Senior Director of Development Southwest Region
Heath joined Tradewind in 2014. He is responsible for the Southwest Region of wind, storage and solar projects and staff which includes the states of Oklahoma, Texas and New Mexico. His responsibilities include overseeing project development managers along with the efforts of various departments including land acquisition and real estate, design and engineering, permitting and environmental, energy assessment, interconnection, regulatory and legislative affairs and state and community outreach.
As a former Developer with EDP Renewables North America, Heath was involved with the development of 12 wind projects in Oklahoma, several of which are operational today. Since 2008, he has managed almost 2GW of now-operational projects with several more GW of wind and solar now in late-stage development.
He held positions with Oklahoma State University and the U.S. Department of Agriculture across Oklahoma. In these roles, he implemented federal cost-share and incentive program contracts on private farm and ranchland and has authored University Fact Sheets, research articles and press releases. During this time, he worked with farmers, ranchers, wildlife managers and other private landowners in numerous capacities.
The multi-generational positive financial impact wind and solar projects have on rural communities and farm and ranch families across America has been a key motivator in his continued success in the clean energy sector. A forward-thinker and longtime land and wildlife conservationist, Heath sees wind and solar as a way to make a dramatically positive impact on our environment and as a way to leave the world better than we found it.
Heath’s family farms and ranches in Southwest Oklahoma and he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources from Oklahoma State University in 2004. He enjoys land and wildlife management, writing, public relations, hunting and spending time with his wife and children.
