3rd Graders in Oklahoma Learn About Wind & Build Their Own Turbines

Tradewind Energy hosted Wind Day for 3rd grade students at Creekwood Elementary in Broken Arrow Public Schools. The students were shown videos and a presentation about the process of developing a wind project in Oklahoma.

They learned how projects are sited, how wind energy data is collected and analyzed to produce energy models, the environmental survey conducted for multiple years and how the power generated from a wind turbine ultimately powers their homes and cities after construction is completed.

Throughout the presentation they also learned what a Meteorological Tower’s purpose is and built their own anemometers from everyday household items. After seeing a video of the process of construction, they also built their own wind turbine for their class!
