Chief Executive Officer
Rob Freeman is CEO and a founding member and owner of Tradewind Energy, Inc.
Tradewind was started in 2003 from scratch in Kansas City with funding from local angel investors. In 2006, Mr. Freeman led the formation of a partnership between Tradewind and Enel SpA. Enel is based in Rome, Italy and is one of the largest owners of renewable energy projects in the world. The Tradewind/Enel partnership has since completed over $5 billion of wind and solar projects in the U.S., and expects to more than double that number in the next three years.
Before founding Tradewind, Rob was Senior Vice President of Capacity Services-Global for Aquila, Inc., a Fortune 60 energy company based in Kansas City. In that position, Rob had responsibility for development and acquisitions of gas storage facilities and independent power projects in Europe and Canada.
Rob has consistently been involved in starting and expanding businesses over the past 25 years, including several in the energy industry. Originally from Columbia, Missouri, Rob earned his JD from the University of Arkansas, and his BS in Geology from the University of Missouri. He has strong business ties throughout the Midwest where he started his career as a corporate attorney. Rob currently serves on the Board of Directors for SEIA (Solar Energy Industries Association).
