Where is the project?

The Goodwell Wind Project is located in the panhandle of Oklahoma approximately 15 miles southwest of Guymon. The main project area is in Texas County, Oklahoma with a portion of the transmission line in Hansford County, Texas.

 

What transmission line does the project connect with?

The project will interconnect at the Hitchland Substation in Texas via a 14 mile radial t-line at 115 kV. Hitchland is owned and operated by SPS and has a multitude of distribution lines and voltages.

 

What is the size of the project?

Goodwell Wind Project encompasses approximately 23,000 acres.

 

When did the project start operating?

The Project began operating in December 2015.

 

Who is buying the power?

The power to be produced by the Goodwell Wind Project has been purchased by AEP under a long-term Power Purchase Agreement.

 

Who developed the project?

The project was initially developed by Chermac Energy. Tradewind Energy acquired the project in August, 2013 and completed all advanced development, including negotiating the power purchase agreement with AEP.


Who owns the project?

The Project is owned by Enel Green Power North America, Inc.

 

Key Project Attributes:

  • The Goodwell Wind Project will economically contribute to the local community via property taxes and rent payments to landowners hosting the turbines and associated facilities.
  • The 200 MW Goodwell Project will produce enough power for approximately 60,000 Oklahoma homes.
  • The project takes only approximately 1-2 percent of land out of service to build, including all land for roads, turbine foundations, and maintenance buildings.
  • The project is expected to have no material effect on any Threatened and Endangered species of birds or other wildlife based on third party studies commissioned by Tradewind Energy.
