Mark Hopkins, a Senior Project Engineer for Tradewind Energy, recently visited the STARBASE Kansas summer academy. He presented to 5th and 6th grade Young Engineer students, who are interested in learning some of the key concepts of engineering. As part of their curriculum, the students participate in a variety of activities, learning to build rockets, CAD work, programming basics and more.
Mark spoke with students about the fundamentals of wind energy and then guided them through an activity building small wind machines to lift cups full of pennies. Tradewind Energy supports a variety of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) initiatives in our communities every year. Thanks to STARBASE for inviting Mark to be a part of your program! To learn more about STARBASE, visit http://www.kansasstarbase.org/.
